Upgrades and cloud migration

Move to a current Windchill release, to the cloud or off a legacy PDM, with rehearsed cut-overs and data that reconciles down to the last link.

Assess before you plan

We start with an inventory: release and patch level, customizations, integrations, data volumes and the infrastructure underneath. Each customization is classified as keep, rewrite or retire, because the cheapest code to upgrade is the code you no longer need.

Rehearse until it is boring

The upgrade runs on a copy of production, repeatedly. Each rehearsal is timed, checked against agreed acceptance tests and turned into a more precise runbook. By the final run the cut-over plan is measured in hours and minutes, not guessed.

Cut over with a way back

Go-live follows the runbook step by step, with go/no-go points and a rollback that has already been tested. Users return to a system that has been checked by key users before the weekend ends.

Moving to the cloud

A cloud migration moves vaults, the database and the application at the same time, so we treat it as a migration project, not a hosting change. You can land on virtual machines or go straight to containers, and either way the deployment is automated from day one.

Leaving a legacy system

Data from older PDM or PLM systems, or from file shares, is loaded in rehearsal runs until counts, links and states reconcile. We agree with you what is worth migrating; history that nobody will open again can stay archived.
